Mouth ulcers can be caused by a reaction to medication, poor food habits, poor digestion, stress, fatigue, biting, hormonal changes, menstruation and many unknown causes which are still to be documented. I am giving below some natural healthy treatment for mouth ulcers. They are based on the principles of Ayurveda and naturopathy and offer simple herbal based cures. You should be able to find most of the these herbs, fruits and vegetables at home or close by, and are inexpensive cures for an irritating problem.
An easy to use cure which also helps prevent bad breath is chewing basil leaves. Chew three to four leaves, morning and evening to prevent and treat bad breath and ulcers.
A painful burning ulcer can be treated with peppermint oil. Apply the oil to the ulcer or find an over the counter gel with this ingredient to find relief.
You can find turmeric powder at any Indian store. Mix a pinch of this turmeric powder to 1 tea spoon of glycerin and apply on the ulcer for quick substantive relief. Repeat morning and evening for a couple of days to find a cure.
An effective cure for mouth ulcers lies in homeopathy. Merc Sol 30 ( Mercurious solubilis in potency 30CH) is very effective in treating mouth ulcers. Three doses a day of (5 small pills or one drop on the tongue), this remedy taken only for two days helps fix painful mouth ulcers. It is not advisable to continue this remedy after two days of usage and an homeopathic physician is recommended for long term help.
Tomatoes are seen to help prevent mouth ulcers. Try eating them in a salad, twice a day to help prevent ulcers.
If you are prone to ulcers, try these two home gargles to prevent ulcer formation. It is also important to protect the throat against repeated infections to keep ulcers at bay.
Boil one tea spoonful ( apx. 5 gms ) of coriander seeds in two cups of water. Reduce till one cup of water is left. Let it cool till warm, strain and gargle with this decoction twice a day for a week or so. It helps in mouth ulcer prevention.
Fenugreek seeds also seem to help mouth ulcer prevention. use them in a decoction for gargling as described above to find an alternative to coriander seeds.
I hope these easy to use remedies will provide help to people with mouth ulcers. it is recommended to see a physician if mouth ulcers persist even after these remedies are tried. Continuously occurring mouth ulcers could be some other health condition needing proper investigation and cure.
