Skin Allergies and some Natural Cures by Janice Kumar Skin allergies can be caused due to various factors. They could be due to the skin type or due to external stimuli. There are a few herbal remedies which can be effective in curing an outbreak of a skin rash. These remedies can help in blocking the external stimuli and / or help the skin regain its previous state with its active ingredients. An allergic skin rash may be caused by harsh chemicals, various kinds of foods, as a reaction to a particular drug or simply on account of skin sensitivity. To cure and fix an allergic skin rash it is most important to find the cause. The solution, herbal or otherwise will follow. Some times skin rashes can also be a part of a broader allergic reaction. Treating a rash in this case may not solve the basic allergic problem, because the cause may lie elsewhere. Allergies are best handled quickly and the best cure is actually prevention. If you know what allergen causes the reaction in the body, then it is best to avoid that stimuli. If you do not know the cause then try the following precautions. I have already mentioned precautions to be taken by an allergy prone person in my allergy article . I repeat a few relevant ones here.
Here are some herbal cures for the SKIN RASH PROBLEM. Skin rashes which are angry red and come and go can be treated with sandalwood paste. Rub a block of sandalwood on a wet stone and apply the paste on the rashes. The cool sandalwood will counteract the allergy causing allergen and soothe the skin. Do this three times a day, wash off with cold water and pat (do not rub) dry. For very oily skin, I would suggest mixing the juice of a lemon in the sandalwood paste. The lemon juice will act as an anti septic and also help reduce the excessive oil content on the skin. Almond tree leaves have anti allergic properties. Applying mashed almond leaves twice daily helps prevent the outbreak of skin rashes and can help treat same also. Try this simple very effective cure for many skin allergies. Take some papaya seeds, mash them in a container, add a tea spoon of lemon juice to the mixture and apply on the skin prone to rashes. Applying same once a day acts as a preventive measure and applying same twice a day during an outbreak will help fix this problem. Leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes before washing off with cold water. Always pat dry. Do not rub. Another herbal cure that works to help cure some skin rashes is a mixture of a teaspoon of lemon juice with an ounce of coconut oil. Apply liberally on the skin and leave on for an hour or so before washing with cold water. Intake of strong doses of vitamin C also help prevent allergies. It is recommended that the person prone to such skin allergies drink a glass of water with a lemon squeezed in everyday in the morning. Drinking a glass of water with two tablespoons of cider vinegar will also help. Redness and itching in the skin may be cured and prevented by the following herbal mixture. Grind one tablespoon of poppy seeds with one tablespoon of water and one tablespoon of lime juice. Apply this mixture on the skin to help alleviate itching and redness. A doctor will generally treat an allergy with anti histamine. In severe cases, this may be required. Herbal treatments in this case, can be added to the line of treatment but may be supplemented with a doctor's advice.
